	Telcast takes Future TV to another dimension

Germany's Telcast Media Group has signed a 3-D deal with Middle East broadcaster Future TV which will see a new campaign roll out across the region. A first for the Arab world, Future will launch a cross-regional 3-D campaign with Telcast's 3-D TV glasses and integrated 3-D programming segments within the broadcaster's existing programmes. The deal is the first for Telcast in the region, and will be backed by a major brand. The company intends to concentrate on the Middle East in the expansion of its camera network and broadcast clients. Tewe Pannier, managing director of Telcast Media Group, said: "The Middle East media industry is exploding and rapidly modernizing. The Middle East media culture is the perfect incubator for Telcast branded content." Telcast has pioneered a variety of technologies during the past 15 years which have brought brands, broadcasters and retailers together in a 'virtuous circle' partnership. It has rolled out campaigns using 3D and Dot technology in a variety of markets to drive viewers to retail stores and back to TV. Pannier told C21: "Brand owners are integrating with television channels much more. We have a number of propositions which work to drive viewers to the point of sale and consumers to the screen. Our EarthTV network is another platform that is developing fast. We currently have 70 cameras worldwide, and hope to grow that to 300 within the next two years. The implications for developing a number of formats around this network are significant." The Telcast system is based on the Pulfrich Effect.

	Sanyo Develops 3-D Car Navigation System Display

Sanyo Electric Co. has developed a three-dimensional stereoscopic display for use in car navigation systems. Using its own proprietary technology combined with a high-resolution liquid crystal display, the firm created a device capable of showing high-quality images in 3-D. Because the display creates the illusion that images are floating on top of it, car navigation system users are said to be able to easily grasp their current surroundings, such as the locations of buildings and intersections.

	Historic Photo Exhibition at Padova, Italy

Between October 16th and November 20th, a 3D photo exhibition will be shown at Padova's "Libreria Pangea". The travel-bookshop, located at Via S. Martino e Solferino 106, will show 24 historic photographs about Yosemite Valley by Underwood and Underwood, both as stereo pairs and as anaglyphs. The exhibition was organized by Antonello Satta. During the opening on October 16th at 5.30pm, Mr. Satta will also show an audiovisual show "i Pionieri delle fotografia di montagna". The bookshop is open on monday from 3.30pm to 7.30pm and tuesday through saturday from 9.30am to 12.30pm and 3.30pm to 7.30pm.
